Shades of Grey - 24 Hours In London Hits The Press

Alexander Finbow - Wednesday, April 14, 2010
This week saw an important milestone for Renegade as our Canadian Mountain Lair oversaw the production of our first publication to be printed in Canada. As part of Renegade’s commitment to keep manufacturing and printing in either the UK or Canada, Friesens have stepped up to the plate with top quality, competitive pricing and friendly supportive service. Rolling through the impressive presses at their base in Altona (near Winnipeg, if you don’t know where Winnipeg is then google it) was the full colour action comic Shades of Grey - 24 Hours In London.

Written by Alexander Finbow and drawn by William Simpson, this one shot comic re-imagines what the original movie would have become if two characters had taken the plot into their own hands.

Marking the occasion for Renegade were recent recruits to the Renegade family, Shame writer and The 1812 War colourist Lovern Kindzierski, Arctic Comics creator Nicholas Burns, and official photographer for the day Holly Halftone

With Lovern’s expert eyes looking over proceedings all was set for four colour comic gold. Friesen’s is a state of the art printers and full of great machinery that would also work well as the backdrop for a sci-fi movie.

Shades of Grey will be the first of many great comics, books and more to be brought to life at Friesens and this print run gives us all a lot of confidence that we are in safe and experienced hands.

And it’ll be available exclusively at the Calgary Entertainment Expo April 24th-25th where both William and Alexander will be on hand for signings and good natured conversation.

Shades may be in comic stores  soon depending on Diamond. It’ll be available direct from us in the very near future regardless.

Big thanks to Lovern, Nicholas and Holly for flying the Renegade flag, and to all at Friesens for their print majesty.

And if anyone knows what’s up with wordpress and its formatting issues let us know as it seems to have a very annoying propensity to do whatever it wants today.
