Not content to be working on three comic series for Renegade, William
Simpson had to return to a character from the past and once more draw
the Dark Knight. Though it wasn’t for DC this time, no William was
taking his drawing skills to a grade 4 class at Elizabeth Rummel School
deep in the Bow Valley and only a stones throw from our secret mountain
lair in Canmore. No stranger to passing on his wisdom, William took up the challenge of helping the grade 4’s get an understanding of the basics of drawing for comics and a look at the careers and job opportunities open to a master of pencil and brush.
William spent an hour with the class, helping each student draw Batman from different perspectives, and then giving them a chance to draw Catwoman and Batman striding knee deep through water.
William also talked to the class about his film work and showed them some of his illustrations and paintings for our upcoming Angels art book he is working on with us. Renegade is committed to doing more community and school sessions to help children learn and understand more about our industry and the wonderful opportunities out there for people interested in the art of story telling, drawing and other creative avenues.
