Gordon Rennie, PJ Holden, Steven Denton and Jim Campbell's return to Dunsany college for the second series that picks up where we left the teams after their almost catastrophic adventures of Monsterology 101.

Catching up on the exploits of a very unique team of university professors, Sabbaticals mixes wry humour with pretty much non-stop action. Gordon and PJ once again adeptly handle the multi-handed narrative threads as the different teams encounter perils high in the Himalayas, on a thought to be undiscovered tropical island, and places a lot further away than our world.

As we approach the print releases for our two winter books, Dept. of Monsterology: Sabbaticals and Underworld, both of which deal with monsters in some way, it seemed fitting to reflect on the nature of true monsters. Gordon Rennie and PJ Holden's Sabbaticals is jammed full of man-eating dinosaurs, Yetis, Yeren, aliens, ghosts and an as yet to be identified Cthulhuesque parasite, but it is Professor Calvary whose grief induced desire to rewrite the past selfishly places his team in mortal danger, Professor Booker who has imprsioned a colleague to use as a DNA key, the Lamont siblings quest for even more power whatever the cost in lives, and a nostalgic Nazi scientist looking to resurrect the 3rd Reich, who present themselves as the biggest monsters in this tale.
