The new Classic Horror Cavern has been designed and constructed using ancient mystical powers and will be screening Doug Bradley’s award winning adaptations of HP Lovecraft’s The Outsider and Edgar Allan Poe’s The Tell Tale Heart during the convention.
Tickets to each 20 minute screening will be a bone shatteringly low price of only $2! With each ticket including a $2 discount voucher for our convention store redeemable for our audiobook CDs, DVDs, comics, books, exclusive T shirts and more.
We’ll have convention only exclusives including volume 6 of Doug Bradley’s Spine Chillers Classic Horror Short Story audio books featuring Doug, and introducing special guest reader Robert ‘Freddie Kreuger’ Englund reading Ambrose Bierce’s classic ‘An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge’
We’ll have more exclusives and special guests to announce shortly, so come and find us for not only the best in Classic Horror but the best genre comics and books too.

PJ Holden brings his artistic flair to The Spine Chillers strip this week as the authors unravel a possible explanation for the strange noises in Mrs P’s attic.
With Phil at Glastonbury dancing and enjoying the sunburn, we’ve taken the opportunity to present the strip exclusively on our facebook page

Thanks to PJ, Jim Campbell and baby Dylan for this weeks adventure. Normal service resumes with the next episode as Ben ‘BFC’ Clark takes over once more as the creative force behind The Spine Chillers.

Yes, even though baby Dylan has allowed his father to get back on to crafting mini masterpieces once more, we present the next in the series of guest produced strips, this time from the creative stable of Clements and Stonebridge.
Enjoy the mystery of the beating box…

A short drive from our Valley Lair brings us to the local high school and within… hidden talents to expose. Here, we displayed a selection of Renegade comics, giving a general idea of our focus.

Once the word got out, students sacrificed lunch breaks for the chance of furthering their talent in this creative domain. The task; create a pin-up for Turning Tiger’s Collected Edition. At first this may have seemed a daunting task, whether managing their climactic school-work or having the confidence in their abilities.

However, all these worries were left behind when we reviewed their portfolio’s with nothing but praise. Emboldened by this, the students went away with a goal in mind, of which we look forward to the results. Stay tuned!

Turning Tiger, the two part story of battling robots and a family in deadly peril, will be hitting shelves very soon, digitally and in print as a beautifully collected edition.
In the meantime we’re going to share some of the fantastic pin ups that have been created especially for this book by some wonderful artists.
First up is this gorgeous picture of Sarah and Jen by the very talented artist Chie Kutsuwada

We’ll post another of the pin ups here very soon. Thank you Chie for creating such an awesome image.

The creative genius behind our ongoing web comic ‘The Spine Chillers’ is on paternity leave right now. Ben ‘BFC’ Clark has caught the fired out bundle of joy that is baby Dylan, and he is now juggling nappies, milk and ‘How to be an awesome Dad without really trying’ books.
So we decided to help him out by creating some Spine Chiller strips to help him out whist his creative time is otherwise occupied. The first strip up today is drawn by the uber talented William Simpson from a script by Renegade’s own Alexander Finbow and lettering by steady handed Jim Campbell.
Click on this little image to see Will’s interpretation of the classic authors and their unusual relationship.

We’ll be posting more guest strips soon so stop by for more fun and adventures with Poe, HP and the boys.

Not content to be working on three comic series for Renegade, William Simpson had to return to a character from the past and once more draw the Dark Knight. Though it wasn’t for DC this time, no William was taking his drawing skills to a grade 4 class at Elizabeth Rummel School deep in the Bow Valley and only a stones throw from our secret mountain lair in Canmore.

No stranger to passing on his wisdom, William took up the challenge of helping the grade 4’s get an understanding of the basics of drawing for comics and a look at the careers and job opportunities open to a master of pencil and brush.

William spent an hour with the class, helping each student draw Batman from different perspectives, and then giving them a chance to draw Catwoman and Batman striding knee deep through water.

William also talked to the class about his film work and showed them some of his illustrations and paintings for our upcoming Angels art book he is working on with us. Renegade is committed to doing more community and school sessions to help children learn and understand more about our industry and the wonderful opportunities out there for people interested in the art of story telling, drawing and other creative avenues.

Bleary eyed, but content, we stumble back to our Canmore Mountain Lair.
Collapsing into the creative cave we begin to regain our strength, sapped by two wonderful days amongst the friendly and welcoming folks at the Calgary Expo.
Renegade sends big thanks to the artists and writers that answered our call and joined us as we met local fans and travelers from distant lands alike. William Simpson, George Freeman, Lovern Kindzierski, Alexander Finbow, and Laurie E. Smith, we salute you!

And big thanks to Karen, Dominic Doom, Lb, Phoebe, Kallista, John, Tonia, and all the staff at the Expo for their help and support and to all the lovely people that came over to see us, look at what we’re up to and buy some of our wonderfully created comics, movies and audiobooks.
We’ll be back next year with Doug and a lot more exclusives.
In the meantime, keep visiting our site for updates on more convention attendances for Renegade and the creative people involved with us.

Delivered by top secret covert truckers today was the much anticipated arrival of Doug Bradley’s Spine Chillers volumes 4 and 5. Using a new recycled cardboard package recipe and the latest printing technology, the new volumes are better for the planet and have lower postage costs. They also look fantastic, all wrapped up in Dan Woods evocative imagery.

And this weekend any one lucky enough to be at the Calgary Expo will be the first to get their hands on them as they will only be available at the expo. You’ll be able to order them from our web store very soon, but not before the Expo so hurry along.
Peace and calm had just returned to the mountain lair when another stealth truck silently pulled up and unloaded a consignment wrapped in lead lined containers. After the usual decontamination procedures we crow barred open the crates to find pristine copies of 24 Hours In London - Shads of Grey.
William Simpson’s art and Jamie Grant’s colours look stunning and the high quality paper stock and cover really help to make this an awesome comic. We are all very pleased with how it’s turned out, in fact William and Alexander are being forced to create another one shot adventure for us right now, to be called 24 Days in Rio.
