This weeks tale from The Spine Chillers authors finds new arrival MR James reacquainting himself with his peers, reginiting an old rivalry in the process. Fists fly from fury and poor James doesn’t know what’s hit him.

Up near the shores of Loch Ness preparations are underway for the 2010 Hi Ex! comics convention, probably the best convention in the UK and definitely the best in Scotland.
Featuring a host of the great and good from the world of comics, Hi Ex! once again offers the most relaxed and intimate atmosphere available to comic fans in the fair Isles.
Renegade will be represented by Ben ‘BFC’ Clark and Richmond ‘Turning Tiger‘ Clements, although there is a rumour that Rich would have been there anyway as he is one of the organizers but he’ll be more than happy to discuss the inspiration for his robot masterpiece over a cold one or two.

Hi Ex! takes place over the weekend of March 27th-28th and I heartily recommend it to anyone interested in comics and the people behind it. If anyone knows of a more relaxed and run convention can they please let me know.

Check out issue 295 of the Judge Dredd Megazine, published this month by Rebellion, for a nicely presented article by Matthew Badham looking at the comics and graphic novels we’re producing. There’s quotes from Alan, Alexander, Richmond and more, plus a sneak peak at John Bolton’s fantastic art for Lovern’s Shame trilogy.

Megazine 295
And once you’ve read the article why not read the rest of the magazine which features my favourite strip of the moment Tempest by Al Ewing and Jon Davis Hunt, as well as an old school style Dredd tale penned by Renegade’s guru of prose Alan Grant.
Go grab yourself a copy now from all good Thrill Merchants, I mean comic shops and reputable retail outlets.

2010 sees the Renegade artisans carefully molding great new additions to the Doug Bradley’s Spine Chillers audio books range. We’ll be releasing a further 9 volumes of collected classic horror stories featuring the master story teller Doug Bradley and special guests Robert ‘Freddy Krueger’ Englund and Jeff ‘Re-Animator’ Combs.

The audio books will continue to be available on CD and to download from emusic.com and audible.com as well as available from us through myebook.com with the text of each story. We’re looking at how best to work with new mobile devices and are always keen to hear advice on routes to go.
Click the image of our hard working actors for a little behind the scenes peek filmed during the recording session in California of ‘Owl Creek Bridge’ the classic short story by Ambrose Bierce.
We’ll post more videos and info on the latest Spine Chillers developments soon.

Something a little different for you today as one of Renegade’s own is featured in a Judge Dredd comic strip in the JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE issue 293 (buy it now from all friendly comic shops!)
Yes Judge Finbow hits the streets of Mega City One in an Alan Grant scripted Judge Dredd:The Lost Case Files episode entitled A Contract on Grud. Featuring art by friend of Renegade PJ Holden, A Contract on Grud documents Judge Finbow’s short law career that ended in gory style after only a few action packed pages. Also featured in this issue is a fantastic Dredd strip drawn by Renegade collaborator Leigh Gallagher which is well worth checking out.
If we can keep Alexander away from the mac long enough then we’ll post his namesakes final moment in Mega City 1 here soon too. Alan has decided not to comment on where his inspiration came from to kill off one of his business partners in such spectacular fashion.

Happy New year to you all!
2010 is here and brings with it more mind blowing comics, audio books and movies from the Renegade collective. With writers and artists hard at it in England, Scotland, Canada, Australia and the US right now creating the best stories ever seen.
We’re continuing to work out the best way to get our finely honed goods into the hands of those who want it both through physical products and digital deliveries through myebook, emusic, audible and others. Anyone with good ideas on areas we should look at please get in contact, there is so much going on right now with ebooks mobile, and cross platform it’s hard to keep up.
I’m also sorry to say we’re not taking submissions for the time being now. We had a ton of subs come in during 2009 and we are swamped, so a big apology to anyone we haven’t got back to yet and please don’t be too upset if we don’t publish your story. We’re a small company and must be really careful how quickly we grow.
Before I disappear back into the hive again, I just thought I’d mention that Doug Bradley’s live action/animated version of The Tell Tale Heart is finished. Stay tuned for a preview and more details.
Right back to it and best wishes for 2010
