Jeff Martin is a Canadian cartoonist and teacher living in Edmonton, Alberta.

"The initial seed for the idea of doing a War of 1812 comic came while I was in university, where I first learned about the war in detail. It was at that moment that John Pink and George Morton, bumbling Canadian militiamen, were born. After a bit of preliminary research, some scripting, and some test drawings, I found myself too caught up in the research to write effectively and shelved the project while I worked on other comics, although John and George kept finding their way into my sketchbook. Fast forward to the Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo in October 2012, where I met Renegade Arts Entertainment publisher Alexander Finbow. After an extended chat and a favourable portfolio review, I returned to John and George with the realization that there was a market for a comic about one of the most absurd wars in history and immediately got to work on a new incarnation of the series. I naturally lean toward writing comedy, which the War of 1812 lent itself to quite nicely, as nobody bothered to be any good at fighting it until it was nearly over.

Now that it's found a home at Renegade, I'm excited to see where things go. George and John have a lot of adventures ahead of them, and a lot of other characters to meet, so I'm hoping that you guys enjoy reading it as much as I've been enjoying creating it."

"The more I read, the more people I wanted to send it to; history professionals, students, and even just casual history buffs will enjoy this one, and so will anyone who can see the ludicrous in the middle of “serious business.” Redcoats-ish is a fun ride [...]. "While the militiamen are cartoonish, Martin includes lots of factual information in the comics. [...] Recommended."
